Peter obtaining his powers through a radioactive spider bite, consistent throughout
his story's many retellings.

Peter fights for cash and wins, and is very irresponsible while doing it.

Peter allows a runaway criminal to escape, as
he does not yet care for many people apart from himself.

Peter realizes how his failure to stop the criminal led to his uncle's death,

and commits himself to the promise that he will not let

events such as this happen again.
